Divine Timing: How to Trust the Universe When Life Feels Out of Sync

Divine timing refers to the belief that everything happens according to God’s perfect plan and schedule. It’s the idea that even if something doesn’t seem to be going your way in the moment, it’s all unfolding as it’s meant to in alignment with a higher purpose.

Believe in this concept Divine involves having faith that the universe has your best interests in mind and at heart.

Even when things feel confusing, when chaos is all around you, or when things seem to have stalled out, you can trust that there’s meaning behind it and you simply may not be able to see yet.

Part of embracing divine timing is letting go of control and releasing expectations about how you think things should go.

Some examples of divine timing may include:

  • Missing your train, only to meet a future business partner at the station while waiting for the next one.
  • You decide to take a different route home from work and end up avoiding a major accident, realizing the decision may have saved your life.
  • Meeting your life partner at a mutual friend’s wedding, where you both almost didn’t attend due to last-minute changes in plans.
  • Having a health emergency that leads to the discovery of a serious illness early enough to treat it.

Organize items in bins, shelves, or drawers. The goal is to create a serene environment with space to breathe.

  • Try walking barefoot on the grass, sitting under a tree, or listening to birdsong.

We’ve all had moments when we’ve questioned our path in life.

The feeling of not following your life purpose can be like drifting aimlessly in a vast sea, unsure of where you’re headed and wary of what’s in store. 5 Powerful Actions to Help You Release Past Hurts And Move Forward In Life

Life is a journey of constant change and growth.  While it’s a daring bold adventure most of the time, we sometimes hold on to the past – even when it is painful.  We cling to memories, harbour painful regrets, and even repeat old patterns of behaviour that don’t serve us.

Being able to let go of the past, however, is essential for our personal growth and emotional well-being. Releasing the past, especially things that have caused us pain or anguish, is a practical strategy for creating happiness and success.

It’s easy to get stuck in a cycle of reliving events or incidents that happened previously in your life.  You might get caught up on what happened, or what could have happened if you’d done something or said something differently.

It doesn’t help to dwell on what could have or should have happened.

What I’ve learned about the past is that it’s best left right there…IN the past.

It’s important to acknowledge that the past Happened, but it’s just as important to recognize that your past doesn’t define who you are today. 

  • You may have made mistakes in the past
  • You may have hurt someone or let someone down
  • You may have disappointed yourself

Here’s a newsflash:  we all have. Every single one of us.

Making mistakes, letting people down now and then, doing things that we know we could have done better with is just part of the human experience. 

And we’ll likely do so our entire life through.    

If you’d like to move forward confidently and embrace your future enthusiastically and joyfully, it’s important to take responsibility for the choices you’ve made in your past, recognize that those things happened and are now in your rear view…so you can’t really do anything about them except accept them for what they are, reconcile with anyone you’ve hurt along the way if you can and release that burden.

If you do have a past trauma that you’re processing or experienced an abusive relationship or event, it can be incredibly difficult to move forward with your life.

You may feel like you’ll never be able to break free from the pain and hurt of what happened to you. It’s perfectly okay to take the time and steps you need to heal from your past, so you’re not living in pain or fear anymore.

But here’s something else:

It may be that no matter how much time has passed since that painful event, or how often you’ve attempted to ‘get over it’ (and failed), that it still hurts on an emotional level.

It may be that you’ll always remember what happened, even if it’s buried deeply under layers of anguish. 

And that’s ok too. 

You may just have to accept that those feelings will always be there…they won’t just disappear over time.

This astrological event occurs three or four times a year when it appears as though the planet Mercury is moving backward in its orbit. While there is a completely scientific explanation for why, the apparent reversal in motion has been associated with a range of effects on various aspects of our lives, both positive and negative.

What is Mercury Retrograde?

Mercury retrograde refers to the optical illusion created by the varying speeds of Earth and Mercury as they orbit around the Sun. From our vantage point on Earth, it appears as though Mercury slows down, stops, and then reverses its course for a few weeks before resuming its regular path. This illusion can be perplexing, leading to various interpretations and beliefs about its influence on human affairs.

The Impact on Communication and Technology

Since Mercury is known to affect communication and technology, during its retrograde phase, communication can become more challenging and misunderstandings are more likely to occur. 

Some common experiences include:

The Transformative Power of Gratitude & How to Practice It Everyday

What does it mean to be Grateful? And is there a difference between “Grateful” and “Thankful?”

Merriam-Webster tells us that ‘grateful’ means feeling or expressing gratitude while ‘thankful’ means experiencing pleasure, satisfaction, or delight.

So, being grateful focuses on the feeling and the expression of gratitude, while thankfulness is to be pleased about something that occurred.

In practice, what differentiates them both is this:

  1. Gratefulness is independent, deep, and long-term
  2. Thankfulness is dependent, surface-level, and short-lived

  • Gratitude is the appreciation and awareness of the blessings that exist in our lives that we tend to overlook.

People who are grateful and positive tend to have a wide social network and an abundance of friends, simply because they’re likable, warm and perceived as a ‘good friend.’ Part of that is because people feel good when they’re around other positive thinking people.

Not only does being grateful make us happier and attracts other people to us, but having an attitude of gratitude also contributes to the quality of our existing relationships.

A 2011 study revealed that our friend relationships tend to grow stronger when we openly express gratitude to our friends. The act of expressing gratitude makes problems more easily resolvable and mutual perception between friends becomes more positive.

This same logic applies to our romantic and family relationships. Partners who express gratitude make each other feel significant and valued, so consequently, their relationships become stronger.

  • Grateful People Sleep Better

You’ve likely experienced sleepless nights or difficulty falling asleep because of a racing mind, worries about what tomorrow or next week may bring and all the unfinished things on your mile-long To-Do List. 

And you’re not alone.

Sleep challenges – difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep to allow that deep, regenerative sleep we all need and crave – is a leading health issue.

Researchers at the University of Manchester conducted a study on how gratitude influences sleep and found that participants who practiced gratitude regularly throughout the day had more positive and less negative thoughts prior to bedtime – which had a positive impact on sleep quality and duration.

When you’ve spent the day filled with worry, fear, or sadness, these experiences accompany you to bed.

Conversely, when you choose to fill your heart and mind with gratitude, it’ll have a natural impact on your mood at bedtime.  You’ll be doing your body a favour, setting yourself up for better quality, more restful sleep and an easier transition off to dreamland.

5 Simple Ways to Fulfill Your Day with Gratitude

If you’d like to build some practices into your life, that develop your relationship with gratitude, here are some simple strategies that are easily achievable for anyone – and they come with some pretty significant benefits.

Keep a Daily Gratitude Journal

While writing about gratitude in general can be beneficial, research also shows that the more specific you are about what you’re grateful for, the more beneficial your gratitude journaling will be.

A study from the University of Southern California backs up this research. In this study, the researchers found that test subjects who wrote 5 sentences about one thing they were grateful for were happier and more energetic compared to test subjects who were asked to write just one sentence about 5 things they were grateful for over the course of 10 weeks.

So when you’re journaling, make sure to be specific!

For example, instead of simply saying you’re grateful for your spouse, go into detail about why you’re grateful for them.

  • Cite specific personality traits or characteristics
  • Describe experiences you’ve had together
  • Express things they’ve done for you in the past that you’ve truly appreciated
  • You can even look to the future – what are you excited about to do together as a couple – and be grateful for the incredible partnership you’ve created together

Have a Gratitude Jar

This is a very simple exercise that can have profound effects on your well-being and outlook. It only requires a few ingredients:

  1. A jar or a box – even a shoe-box will do
  2. Ribbon, stickers, glitter, or whatever else you like to decorate with (totally optional)
  3. Paper
  4. A pen or pencil for writing your gratitude notes
  5. An attitude of gratitude – ready to grow and espand

Every Day – Throughout the day, think about a few things you’re grateful for.  It might be as simple as witnessing a beautiful sunrise, hearing the birds tweeting outside before you had to get up to start your day, or connecting with a relative who lives far away.

Write down what you are grateful for on small pieces of paper and place them in the jar.

Maybe one day, you have ten things you recognize, maybe other days, it’s only one or 2, but it’s creating the habit of practicing gratitude that’s important – so do this every day.

Soon, you’ll discover that you have a jar full of reasons to be grateful.

If you need a little mood booster – read those notes. 

Make it a Family Affair – You can also make it a habit to get together for a special occasion (New Years Eve, Christmas Dinner, in memoriam of the passing of a grandparent, or something else) where you read them as a family.

Helping your family practice gratitude, express it openly and appreciate the life you’ve created together is incredibly powerful.

Write a Gratitude Letter or Email

The most potent gratitude practice is to send a handwritten note of thanks to someone special in your life or to someone who’s had a profound effect on it.

When you’re ready to do this exercise, don’t forget to be specific.

Give a detailed description of how the person enriched your life and how you feel about them.

If you have the time and ability, it is even more powerful to hand-deliver your letter.  Make a surprise appearance and witness the joy the recipient feels as a result of your kind words of appreciation.

Your own happiness from this awesome gesture will likely be one of the very best presents, in turn, you have ever received.

Bless Your Drinking Water

Speaking grateful words over your water can alter its chemical structure and flood your cells with good energy.

Dr. Emoto investigated the impact of negative and positive words on water.

His surprising findings revealed that words of love and appreciation actually had a significant impact on the water.

Incorporate this technique and express gratitude to your water. Feel wonderful energy flowing through your bottle or glass of water as you hold it in your hands. Then, while you sip the water, visualize it infusing you with pleasant energy and high vibrations and quenching the thirst of every living cell in your body.  

Create Gratitude Affirmations 

Saying affirmations silently or aloud helps us change any inner dialogue that’s created limiting beliefs, which can prevent us from living to our fullest potential.

The late spiritual leader and author, Louise Hay, believed in the power of affirmations to change our lives. She believed that when we say affirmations, we are stepping out of our victim role and acknowledging our own power.

Gratitude is a powerful emotion that can bring us joy, fulfillment and a powerful sense of belonging to something far beyond ourselves.

We can cultivate an attitude of gratitude and abundance even in difficult times by incorporating these habits into our daily lives.

Every act of gratitude, whether it’s thanking those who serve us or noticing the beauty in nature, or recognizing all that’s happened so we can enjoy a beautiful meal – can have a significant impact on our happiness and on our relationships.

Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones, But Your Words Can Surely Hurt Me

Growing up, there was a common jingle among my girlhood friends that might ring a bell for you too:  “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.” 

Back then, it made perfect sense and even served as a weapon or a coat of armour when someone said something hurtful.  

Today, I have a totally different option on this.

Our words have power.

Their meaning carries with them perceptions that shape our beliefs, drive our behaviors, and even go further:  they create our world. The power of our words arise from the emotional responses they evoke when we read them, speak the out loud, or hear them.

A Case for the Power of Words

When I first began my spiritual journey, my very first mentor shared Dr. Emoto’s famous rice experiment which is known for testing the power of the spoken word.  It went like this:

  • 2 cups of cooked white rice were placed in 2 separate mason jars
  • Lids were affixed
  • 1 jar was labelled “Thank You” and the other, “You Fool.”
  • The jars were placed in an elementary school classroom
  • Twice a day the students were instructed to speak the words on the labels to the corresponding jars.

Results following 30 days:

  1. The rice in the jar that was constantly insulted had shriveled into a black, gelatinous mass.
  2. The rice in the jar that experienced the polite words of ‘Thanks’, was as white and fluffy as the day it was made.

I encourage you to pick up Dr. Emoto’s books for further detailed examples of the incredible power of words.

We may not always notice it, but the words we say, and the thoughts we think, have a powerful influence on us. They can affect our mood, how we treat others, and how our day goes – whether it’s for the better, or for the worse. 

And here’s the best part:  you have complete control over the words you choose.  

Here’s how to up-level your life simply by choosing to up-level your words.

Tip #1 – Choose Your Words Wisely – and bring more positivity into your life

It turns out that the Universe is always listening and mirroring the energy of your words and even your thoughts back to you.

Have you ever said “I can’t believe it” when you experience something wonderful? 

If you have (and I’m guilty too) that statement actually cancels the gift that you’ve just received. If you say it and believe it enough, your thoughts and feelings have the power to send that gift straight back to the Universe just as quickly as it came.

Start to be aware of what you’re saying out loud.  I’ll bet you’ll be amazed at how many times in a day you catch yourself thinking something negative or worse still, muttering it under your breath or complaining about something to your friend, sister or mother.

What we speak about, we bring about.  So if you want to create more positivity into your life – speak more about positive things, say more positive words – and STOP complaining about every little thing that goes wrong – because that’s a sure-fire way to bring about more of the results we don’t want to see.

Tip #2 – Avoid Overdramatic Language or Negative Pessimism for your health

Yep,  I did say that above – and here’s what I mean.  Anytime we say phrases like:

  • She’s such a pain in the neck or
  • That’s horrific
  • My back’s killing me
  • I’m so pissed off right now
  • I almost just had a heart-attack!

We’re actually calling in those results. 

Even when we talk this way in jest or use this type of language as an exaggeration, we’re lowering our vibration and sending powerful language out into the Universe, attracting drama, negativity and even the very scenarios we would never want to create. 

  • Do you want to have a heart-attack?
  • Do you like being pissed off?
  • Do you really want horror in your life?
  • Do you want your back to literally kill you?

And here’s where it gets physiological: 

When you say or think words that make you feel panicked, your body releases stress hormones that affect your digestion, your heart-rate, your muscles and your immunity.

You’ll actually trigger fight or flight response – With Your Words which can contribute to anxiety, panic attacks, depression and exhaustion.

Your body has an incredible, innate ability to heal itself and you have the ability to support that healing process with peaceful, calm thoughts and expressions – WITH the words you think and speak about your body and your experience of life.

Your Turn

I invite you to try it out.   You’ll be amazed at how this simple exercise illustrates the effect of even the tiniest words.  See how profoundly influential these ones are to our immediate state of being.

  1. Have someone say “no” to you emphatically ten times in a row.  Notice the effect it has on you.
  2. Follow this by having someone say the word “yes.”  How much different do you feel now?

“Yes” opens doors to communication with others and allows good feelings to flow through your body. 


But there’s also a caveat.  Since negative words trigger our survival instincts, we’re biased toward the negative ones.   Negative statements are emblazoned in our memory more easily and profoundly than positive statements.

Positive words need to be consciously repeated at a ratio of about five to one, positive to negative, in order to have the same influence.

Tip #3 – Shift to a Place of Gratitude

Whenever you’re in a state where you’re feeling uncertainty or fear or if you feel a need to correct a mistaken thought, try saying out loud one of these 2 powerful statement:

  • All is Well, I am safe
  • Right here and now I am okay

Alternatively, think of a few things you’re grateful for.

Practicing these strategies will raise your vibration immediately, change your ‘state of being’ and prevent negativity from interfering.

You have immense power within you JUST by harnessing the power of the words you choose to say to yourself and to others.

Remember: the words you speak and the thoughts you think are creating your reality – IN real time.

Try this to see how your words can change your life – for the better

  1. Put positive affirmations on sticky notes around your home and office that say wonderful things about you, your family, or your goals.
  2. Wear clothes that have positive messages or phrases on them.

Imagine the kind of positive energy you’ll be generating for yourself when you’re wearing positivity all day long.

As you keep doing these little things, you use the power of repetition in a highly effective way for your very own benefit.

You have the power to change your world, and using words consciously is one of the quickest ways to shift the energy you bring into your life and create a larger, positive shift in your energy, your overall attitude, and your mental health will get a boost too.

Moral of the Story

When something good happens just say “thank you!” or “I believe it!”

You are supported by a loving Universe and guided by Angels. Your Angels are here to help you, all you need to do is ask and with that, I have a gift for you.

Guardian Angels vs Archangels Is there a Difference?

I a I am often asked this question…and the simple answer is Yes!!    So, let’s first begin with what a Guardian Angel is.  From the moment of conception straight through to the day of your passing, you will have your guardian angel constantly by your side. I was fascinated to learn from my angel’s, that in fact your guardian angel has been with you in ALL your lifetimes. Guardian angels guide and protect us throughout various stages of our lives. Our guardian angels are here to serve us and no one else. I consider them our own “personal angels.” And because we have free will, they usually don’t intervene in our lives without our permission. If we want some help with anything, all we need to do is to ask them for their assistance and they will be there for us.   Archangels on the other hand, each have their own special and unique abilities and are able to intervene into anyone’s life. Archangels will come and go, they appear when you call on them, and will leave when they are done assisting you.  As there is truly no linear time on the other side, Archangels can help people and situations simultaneously.
